How to Clean a Quartz Banger
Here’s how to clean a quartz banger or nail with Green Piece, an alcohol-free (no isopropyl) cleaner with a fresh orange scent. It’s reusable, so you pour it back in the bottle when you’re done.

What you need
- Green Piece cleaner
- Warm water
- Nylon brushes (tube and mini brushes)
- Silicone plugs, or a sealable bag or jar for small parts
- A funnel to pour the cleaner back
Steps
- Let the banger cool completely before handling. Never put cold liquid on hot quartz.
- Remove the banger from the rig.
- Use a cotton swab to wipe out any loose residue.
- Place it in a small jar or bag with enough Green Piece to submerge it.
- Soak, shaking occasionally.
- Wipe the inside of the bucket with a cotton swab or soft brush.
- Pour the used Green Piece back into the bottle through a funnel. The liquid is reusable, so keep it for the next clean.
- Rinse thoroughly with warm water until no cleaner or loosened residue remains, then let the piece air dry.
Soak time
A few minutes for light residue; up to about 8 hours for dark, baked-on buildup.

Rinse with warm water until no cleaner or loosened residue remains. A drop of dish soap is optional. Let the piece air dry fully before using it.
Tips
- Quick swabbing after each session keeps soaks short.
- Make sure the banger is completely dry before heating it again.
