How to Clean Dried, Hardened Paint Brushes
Got a brush that’s stiff with dried paint? Green Piece Paint Brush Cleaner removes dried-on oil, acrylic, latex and shellac paint and conditions the bristles, so many brushes can be brought back into use.
Made with fruit extracts and minerals only. Non-toxic and environmentally friendly, with zero turpentine and zero paint thinner.
What you need
- Green Piece Paint Brush Cleaner
- A cup, jar or tray
- Warm water
- Paper towels or a rag
- A brush comb (optional)
Steps
- Put the brush in a jar or cup and add enough Green Piece Paint Brush Cleaner to cover the hardened bristles.
- Let it soak. Heavily dried paint takes longer, so check it from time to time.
- Once the paint softens, flex the bristles and work the paint loose.
- Use a brush comb to pull softened paint out near the ferrule.
- Repeat the soak if some paint is still hard.
- Rinse with warm water, reshape the bristles and let the brush dry.
Tips
- Results depend on how long the paint has been dry and how deep it is in the bristles.
- Wipe softened paint off on a rag between soaks to see your progress.
