How to Clean Oil Paint Brushes Without Turpentine
Clean oil paint from your brushes without turpentine or paint thinner. Green Piece Paint Brush Cleaner removes wet or dried-on oil paint and conditions the bristles.
Made with fruit extracts and minerals only. Non-toxic and environmentally friendly, with zero turpentine and zero paint thinner.
What you need
- Green Piece Paint Brush Cleaner
- A cup, jar or tray
- Warm water
- Paper towels or a rag
- A brush comb (optional)
Steps
- Wipe as much oil paint off the brush as you can with a rag.
- Pour Green Piece Paint Brush Cleaner into a cup or jar, enough to cover the bristles.
- Swirl the brush and press it gently against the bottom of the cup to release paint.
- For dried oil paint, let the bristles soak until the paint softens.
- Work the paint out of the bristles, down to the ferrule.
- Rinse with warm water, reshape the bristles and let the brush dry.
Tips
- Skip the solvent jar: there’s no turpentine or paint thinner smell, just fresh orange.
- Lay brushes flat or bristles-up to dry so water doesn’t sit in the ferrule.
